  • Altimate · 11 months ago
I managed to get both keys, but it took me from 1130pm to 4:30am eastern time to get it. Just luck of the draw as far as I can see. Get the refresh at the right time and BANG, you get a key.

I am using Firefox in Ubuntu Linux and got it straight away, both the 32 and 64 bit keys.
  • vinyl · 11 months ago
I see a problem here, they now dishing out too many keys..one of the keys you have posted I have recived and already activiated. Something not quite right here
  • Louis · 11 months ago
vinyl, you are dead right. I noticed the exact same thing right now. They are dishing out duplicate keys.
  • vinyl · 11 months ago
    Louis, thanks for confirming.

STOP THE PRESSES MICROSOFT !!!!!!!! wonder how they going to handle this situation? Sounds like they need to scratch everything and start fresh.
  • Snapped · 11 months ago
Thanks for the great links, 64 bit activation key came up after about 30 seconds of retries
  • Louis · 11 months ago
Also, they have said that each person gets one activation key that is good for install on up to 3 computers and you can access the key at any time(ie it wont change). Every time you visit the page listed, you get a different key so things just don't jibe.

My thought is that it's down or they are just giving out a bunch of keys and wont care about activation, they activate everyone.
  • vinyl · 11 months ago
I think what has happened here, is that yesterday they were laying down the foundation "if you will" for the downloads/activiation, some folks got in on the links or came across them and let the world+dog know about it. That flooded their infrastructure and they been trying to add more resources to it. With the activation links working again i think they are about to about the flood gates but do not realize whats happening here.

    Just speculation on my part....
  • the truth · 11 months ago
Worked like a charm, but the first two times I visited the link i got a 'page not found' (404 basically) error. But it worked fine the 3rd time. Unfortunately one of the keys I got was posted above.
  • sohail · 11 months ago

  • vinyl · 11 months ago
please stop posting keys. I dont want mine blacklisted.
  • Bassoonigator · 11 months ago
@vinyl, I don't think you have to worry too much. It looks as if they're just recycling a number of old keys, and going through them in rotation so it looks like new ones are being generated. If it were really a problem you can bet those keys would NOT be allowed to stay in this thread for all to see. Right now there's no wait for keys, IF you are signed in on TechNet. I got mine the first time I pasted the address in the browser's address bar.
  • craz · 11 months ago
@Bassoonigator, Just updated the links, they now produce unique genuine keys - only 2.5 million of them
  • craz · 11 months ago
A lot of people are subscribed the comments RSS so I'm just posting here to let you all know I've edited this post and the official download links are up now
  • Bassoonigator · 11 months ago
@Brian, But anyone who got a key prior to this IS still OK, though (I hope)? We don't have to go through the whole rigmarole again, do we?
  • craz · 11 months ago
@Bassoonigator, If you already used the key then it's ok. If you haven't, I recommend you go through the links above and get another key as a precaution. This is because I heard a few people were saying that when they inputted their key earlier, they said it was unique. I don't know why this problem was happening but it seems to only happen to those who tried the links I gave out earlier a little too late.

By the way, I've changed the post so the links above are new and you get unique keys from Microsoft instead since the old links only led to redirects
  • windows7 · 11 months ago
I looked up some german pages and see that they posted the 10 current keys form Microsoft.
    So no 2,5 Billion keys.
  • craz · 11 months ago
@windows7, I don't suggest using those since keys can only be used on up to 3 computers. The official links are up I posted them. Use the 32-bit or 64-bit link and get a unique key just for yourself now!
  • craz · 11 months ago
@Brian, Lifehacker seems to have found the links and posted them as well. Their commenters claim the keys work fine so I wouldn't worry! Have clarified about logging into Technet, thanks for bringing that suggestion to me =)
  • Gollum999 · 11 months ago
    Hmm... >_<
I can't get the download page to load.
Whenever I go to https://profile.microsoft.com/RegSysProfileCent... it just sits there, and the dots go around in a circle. :p It doesn't load... I've been waiting and refreshing for like 3 hours.
I tried to download the ISO seperately, but the download stopped at about %10. -_-
  • windows7 · 11 months ago
@Brian, But the keys are always the same! Open the link 10 times and you will see 5 different keys, the other 5 are repetitions.
  • Gollum999 · 11 months ago
@Gollum999, NVM, I got it to work. :D
  • Bassoonigator · 11 months ago
NOW what's happening with the downloads? I've tried several times to download the 32-bit version, using the link at the top of this &%#@ page. The download will start, then simply quit at about 200 to 300 MB and declare itself to be FINISHED! Since the download manager closes and the file (what there IS of it) is in my DOWNLOADS folder, I know it's not going to complete later.

Brian, what say you to this?
  • Bassoonigator · 11 months ago
Well, it just did it AGAIN ! ! ! GR-R-R-R! This time it got to 516 MB, so I guess it's trying (that's as in "VERY TRYING"). Oh well, they say Patience is a virtue.
  • craz · 11 months ago
@Bassoonigator, are you using the download manager or direct links? if you're having problems try the download manager
  • craz · 11 months ago
@windows7, Which links did you use? The ones now (the URL is shorter) or the ones before (Longer URLs)
  • mark · 11 months ago
I'm trying to get it too via a download manager (orbit) but keeps stopping. First it was around 200mb, now about 470mb...argh. M$ should've just used bittorrent.
  • Bassoonigator · 11 months ago
@Brian, Well, I can see the manager thingy down at the bottom of the monitor screen, so I assume I'm using it. It says there is 1 download going, and it will take xx minutes to finish. but when it gets partway through, the download terminates and the DL manager bar disappears. SO, you tell me...
  • craz · 11 months ago
@Bassoonigator, That's really weird, I didn't get any hiccups at all. Did you try the direct links instead?
  • Bassoonigator · 11 months ago
Well, it just terminate YET AGAIN- this time at about 250MB! I've tried it both with and without the DL Manager, using both Firefox and Internet EXPLODER. Maybe I should try the pirate sites- at least they have the reputation of completing downloads (although you don't know what fleas that dog will have). :-(
  • loaielgarhi · 11 months ago
I got 5 keys to the site of Microsoft for 64-bit and 3 keys for 32-bit ....
  • chi2flat · 11 months ago
@Bassoonigator, you need to install the active x download manager. What you are seeing at the botttom is just FF or IE download status. I had the same thing happen to me 200+ meg then it quits. I used IE on the linked page -then installed the Downlond Manager that MS wanted you to use (active x yellow bar shows up at top of browser). Now its working and I am 1.5 gig out of 2.6 and still going strong for over 3 hours.
  • Bassoonigator · 11 months ago
@chi2flat, I have downloaded and installed the DL Manager from Microsoft (actually, it was already there- the install "repaired" the existing copy. But even though it's down in the system tray, it doesn't DO anything it just sits there like a bump on a toad's a**. So, I'm at a loss on this one. I'm starting to think the server is just acting flaky under this heavy load, since many others are having the same problem.
  • Bassoonigator · 11 months ago
@loaielgarhi, are you going to USE that many? IF we believe the Wizards of Redmond, there are only 2.5M of them to go around. Didn't your mother ever tell you to "eat all those veggies, there are children starving in (you fill in the blank here)." ;-)
  • Bassoonigator · 11 months ago
@Brian, What direct links would you suggest? Right now I am DEFINITELY open to suggestions. (Boy that sure opens the door, doesn't it?)
  • craz · 11 months ago
@Bassoonigator, If you REALLY want it I would suggest you just torrent it. I guess you could say you're downloading an illegal piece of software but does it really matter when Microsoft is giving it away for free too but just under their servers? I'm not sure why you are having these problems. Do you get these problems when downloading other large files too?
  • craz · 11 months ago
@Bassoonigator, I've posted direct links in Step 1 of this post
  • empyr3al · 11 months ago
@Mr.M.xpi, I have tons of keys, for both 32 and 64. Go figure once you are at the key screen (chrome and firefox wouldnt work), you can press back page and get another different key.
  • empyr3al · 11 months ago
@sohail, looks like there are repeats; so there are several keys set for it and its not unique to user.
  • empyr3al · 11 months ago
@Brian, bull. Its 10:46 EST Jan 10th, and i got a dup key by pressing back page repeatedly after collecting a number of keys and the key presentation page.
  • craz · 11 months ago
I would suggest to just go to www.windows7.com and get a unique key there. The thing is I ran through the registration process through TechNet and got the exact same keys as what some of you mentioned here so I thought the 10 keys would be universal. I guess they are unique now. Good news is there's no 2.5 million limit now.
  • dscycler · 11 months ago
No matter what the win 7 beta download never completes. It gets to 99% and sits there with a status of "Connecting." At least the 32-bit version. Whats up with that? IE 7 running on Vista Ultimate x64. Common MS.....

@Gollum999, That happened to me too! I tried to find other sites that offer the beta but they were all broken links.
