Windows 7 Center: An update on the Windows 7 Beta Download Situation

OK, so I've been thinking about today, here's what I have come up with. 1) How can the largest software company in the entire world fail to realise that a tiny little update (you know, only 2.4 gig and requiring a registration process) would in fact be the most popular thing to hit the internet since FF download day? 2) Having been a member of connect.microsoft.com for a number of years, I'm a little annoyed that we got no special system like the MSDN people to get around the failures of the windows corporate site (especially as MS told the world (back when the release was 'in December') that it'd be released through connect) 3) Staying on connect, since lots of people got told to find the beta there, their message boards are innundated with literally thousands of 'I want to be a beta tester' message (making it dificult for people to have grown-up discussions about how unstable IE7 has become in the last 6 months) - I now live in fear that the board will become full of people complaining about bugs, rather than reporting them. 4) Thinking about Download Day, maybe MS should have contacted them to see if the record was based on number of downloads, or total amount of data. They are sure going to break data transfer records when they get it all working! Just a few ponderations. I'm off to bed (I'll get an illegal hook-up in the morning)

What form? ? ? I didn't have to fill out any form to get my key, just paste the link into my browser after I signed in on TechNet. Was that ID enough, or will the computer puke when I try to activate it WITH THE KEY MICROSOFT SENT ME? Heaven help us, this is turning out to be a real CLUSTERF"(#. C'mon, Microsoft, let's tighten those sphincters. ;-)
